Double Feature Idea

"The Lost Weekend" (1945) with "I'll Cry Tomorrow" (1955)

Both are gripping depictions of the harmful effects of alcoholism (often from a disoriented alcohol induced and painful "withdrawal" point of view). Both involve the protagonist characters coming to terms with reality before they succumb into descent, relapse and ruin.

I thought they would make a perfect double feature as they are both similar films and highly rated (including by me).
It's a shame to think that both of
these films were almost never made because they both dealt with controversial subject matter (for those days, at least).
While they are dark, serious dramas they both end on an uplifting, inspirational note although bittersweet.
Oops, I suppose I should have included a little
*Spoiler Alert* there. Oh well. Too late now.
I won't give away too much here.
But I highly recommend watching these 2 intriguing classic movies back to back as a double feature.
Just don't drink too much beforehand! ;-)
